Where should you stay in Salem for Halloween? The historic Hawthorne Hotel, of course!

Although the hotel is sold out on weekends this October, we still have availability during the week. The best way to check availability and book a room is to call and speak with a member of our Front Desk team at 978-744-4080.
Tickets for the October 28, 2023 ball “Come Out and Play: Toys That Terrify” have SOLD OUT. This 21+ event is hosted annually by the Hawthorne team. Other Halloween-related events take place at the Hawthorne in October but are managed by individual event organizers, not the Hawthorne. Tickets for events other than the October 28th Hawthorne-run ball must be purchased through the event organizer.
October 2024
Rooms and rates for next October are not currently displayed on our website as we do not book stays more than one year in advance. There is a very high demand for weekends in October and we offer returning guests the opportunity to re-book before making the rooms available to new guests. Don’t let the demand for rooms deter you! If you are able to visit during the week, you will find greater room availability and shorter wait times at popular attractions.
Two-Night Minimum + Deposit on Weekends
There is a two night minimum for weekend stays (Friday + Saturday or Saturday + Sunday) in October. During the week, however, we welcome guests who may be looking for a shorter visit. A non-refundable deposit representing one night of your stay is required for all reservations that include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night in October. Should you need to cancel your reservation, this deposit will be forfeited and kept by the Hawthorne Hotel as a cancellation fee.
If you wish to book a weekend in October 2024, rooms will be available to the general public (via voicemail: 978-825-4444) every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. following the weekend noted in the informational chart. You will be directed to a voicemail where you will be asked to leave your reservation request (dates/number of people.) A reservationist will call guests back to confirm details in the order messages are received. October weekends cannot be booked online.
Returning October Weekend Guests
Guests who are staying at the Hawthorne on a weekend in October 2023 are given the opportunity to book for 2024 while they are here. However, this is not a guarantee of room availability, only an option that they are allowed to exercise if the room they desire is available.
2024 Halloween Ball: Three Night Package + Deposit
The 2024 Halloween Ball Package includes THREE (3) NIGHTS:
Friday, October 25 + Saturday, October 26 + Sunday, October 27
(check-out on Monday, October 28)
The Halloween Ball will take place on Saturday, October 26. In order to stay at the Hawthorne the night of the Ball, you must book the full three night package. There is no breaking up the package into smaller reservations. You may still attend the Ball even if not an overnight guest; tickets go on sale to the general public June 1, 2024 via Eventbrite.com.
All reservations must be made through the 2024 Halloween Ball Package Reservation Form which will be posted on our website the first week of October 2023. Halloween Ball Package reservations are only accepted via the Reservation Form, which can be emailed to the address provided on January 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Reservation forms received prior to this date and time will not be considered. A credit card is required with your submission; all guests are charged a $300 non-refundable deposit at the time the Halloween Ball Package reservation is made, which then guarantees your room. You will not be charged if space is not available.
2024 Halloween Night: Two Night Package + Deposit
The 2024 Halloween Night Package includes TWO (2) NIGHTS:
Wednesday, October 30 + Thursday, October 31
(check-out on Friday, November 1)
