The Hawthorne Hotel features four convenient dining options, two located at the hotel and two at the Peabody Essex Museum located across the street. Enjoy modern upscale dining in Salem at Nat’s restaurant where the creative chefs feature seasonal dishes and gluten-free menu options. The Tavern is a great venue popular with locals and guests alike at all times of the day. Watch a sporting event or simply try a signature dish like the lobster quesadillas and seafood chowder. Or walk across the street to the Peabody Essex Museum and choose from the Atrium Café and Garden Restaurant, both local favorites.

Our Thanksgiving Day Grand Buffet is sold out , but we do sometimes see larger party cancellations so you are welcome to call and be added to our Waiting List. For a more intimate gathering spot, visit our oak-paneled Tavern offering casual pub fare and creative libations. Overlooking the beautiful Salem Common, the Tavern is the perfect spot for lunch, after-work beverages or an informal fireside meal. Enjoy our flat-screen televisions for major sporting events.

Garden Restaurant at the Peabody Essex Museum

Conveniently located across the street from the Hawthorne Hotel, this Salem restaurant offers a premier dining experience in Massachusetts. Enjoy classic New England clam chowder and a selection of salads, panini and classic entrees. You do not need to pay admission to eat at the restaurants at the PEM. 

Hours:  Tuesday through Sunday, and Holiday Mondays, 11:30a.m. - 2:30p.m.

Atrium Cafe at the Peabody Essex Museum

Enjoy light, informal dining in the museum’s soaring Atrium. One of the hidden gems of Salem, The Atrium at the Peabody Essex Museum is a great place to have lunch. Order one of our specialty sandwiches or design your own combination from the freshest ingredients. The daily menu features pastries, soups, salads and special sandwiches, along with child-friendly options. You do not need to pay admission to eat at the restaurants at the PEM.
