How many floors does the hotel have?

The hotel has 6 floors. Guest rooms are located on the second through sixth floors.

How many rooms are in the hotel?

The hotel has a total of 93 guest rooms. There are 89 rooms in the main building and 4 rooms in the Fidelia Bridges Guest House located behind the hotel parking lot.

Is the hotel haunted?

Some guests say we are haunted. We have a couple of rooms that are infamous for this reason. We find that if you are looking for a spooky experience, you may get one. On the other hand, most of our guests do not have a haunted experience.

When can I book for October?

We do not book for more than one year in advance which is why the rooms and rates cannot be displayed on the website. In addition, we usually have very high demand for the rooms for each weekend in October, so we handle this demand by allowing our returning guests to book first, before making the rooms available to the general public. If you wish to book a weekend in October, rooms will be available to the general public (on the website or by calling the
front desk) every Tuesday at 10am following the weekend you are interested in booking for the next year.

Do you have free and accessible parking?

Yes. We have two parking lots located directly behind the hotel. Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Do you have a shuttle that can take me to the airport or other locations?

No. We are happy to set up a car service or call a taxi if you are in need of transportation. Salem also has Uber and Lyft.

Is the hotel centrally located?

Yes. We are located in the heart of Salem so you can walk to all of the museums, must sees, and restaurants that Salem has to offer. Park your car when you arrive and you won't need it again until you leave!

Are you a smoke-free facility?

Yes. All of our rooms, including function rooms, are smoke-free.

Is there a two night minimum stay requirement? Do you take deposits when reservations are made?

When booking a Saturday night stay in the months of June through October you will be required to stay two nights. We do not require a deposit at the time of booking (except for Saturday night stays in October), but if you cancel within 72 hours of your arrival we will charge you for one night's room and tax.

Can I get an early check-in?

While we can’t guarantee an early check-in before 4:00pm, we can make notes in your reservation for an early check-in request. We recommend calling the morning of arrival to get a sense of how likely it is that a room would be ready early. That way we can have our morning staff on the day of your arrival notify the housekeeping department and do our very best to get the room ready as early as possible. We are happy to hold your luggage if the room is not yet ready when you arrive and you are more than welcome to park your car in our parking lot while you explore Salem and wait for your room to become available.

Are you part of a hotel chain where I can get rewards and points?

No. The Hawthorne Hotel is privately owned. We have two sister hotels, Concord's Colonial Inn & The Publick House.

Is breakfast included in my reservation?

No. Breakfast is only included if you book one of our room packages that states breakfast is included.

Is there room service?

Yes. The room service menu can be found in your room.

What times are your restaurants open?

Sunday 11:30am-2pm (Reservations recommended.)

Are you pet friendly?

Yes! We love pets! The Hawthorne Hotel offers a doggie room service menu, special amenities, and a pet resource guide. Salem is a dog-friendly community with many parks, scenic walking routes, and restaurants with outdoor seating. We look forward to welcoming you and your four-legged family members to the historic Hawthorne Hotel!

What is your pet fee and policy?

We welcome well-behaved pets (up to two per room) to join owners in our designated pet-friendly rooms with advance notice. An additional fee of $40 per night will be applied to your room. Be sure to notify your Front Desk clerk if you will be travelling with a pet to ensure you are confirmed in one of our pet-friendly rooms on the 6th floor.

Do you have a pool or gym?

The hotel has a small workout room with free-weights, a treadmill and a bike. If you are interested in a pool or larger gym you can get a complimentary pass from the Front Desk to the Salem YMCA.
